4 Year Old Terminal Cancer Patient Gets A Special Surprise

The town of West Jordan, Utah, came together last week to help out the Van Leuvan family - their oldest son, Ethan, is suffering from lymphoblastic leukemia. Doctors told Ethan's parents he is running out of time.

To ensure that Ethan's remaining days were special, the entire town came out in force to celebrate the holidays a bit early. Trick or treating for Halloween (Ethan dressed up as Superman), a parade for his 5th birthday (which would be in November), and caroling for his favorite holiday, Christmas.

It's always heartwarming to see communities bond in special ways like this. Check out the video from the Today Show below - make sure you have a tissue handy.

Ellen Gives Away A Royal Surprise

Ellen Degeneres is famous for her generosity. On her show this past week, she gave a set of twin sisters the surprise of a lifetime!

Gang Members Feed Hungry Children

For the past two and a half years, members of the Tribal Huks gang have been defying stereotypes - and making sandwiches for schoolchildren in need.

Every morning they gather to make 500 sandwiches, then drop them off at local schools.

Gang leader Jaime Pink says that as a product of a hungry childhood, he understands the importance of being able to have a good lunch at school when it might not be available at home.

"Hopefully they grow up to be decent citizens - doctors and lawyers. But they not gonna grow up properly if they don't get a feed."

Walt Disney World Announces 'Frozen' Attraction

With the huge success of Disney's 53rd animated film, "Frozen", we knew it was only a matter of time before it infiltrated the parks as well!

Walt Disney World Resorts has recently confirmed everyone's suspicions: a "Frozen" themed attraction is in the works! Arendelle will be brought to life at Norway Pavillion in Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida. 

Little has been revealed about the attraction so far, but we do know it will include a "royal greeting location" where guests can meet Elsa and Anna!

Motorcycle Club Raises Money For Special Olympics

Rapid City, South Dakota is home to the Twisted Misfits - a motorcycle club.

This year the bikers decided to hold a "Hogtoberfest" event. Over 150 people attended the party, which included a pig roast, karaoke, and 50/50 raffle.

They were able to raise an impressive $2,200 at their "Swine and Dine" event - and donated the cash to their local Special Olympics chapter.



The members of Twisted Misfits had a ton of fun creating and hosting Hogtoberfest, and are eager to give even more back to their community. Find out more about them on their Facebook page.

New 'Harry Potter' Story From J.K. Rowling

Potterheads, rejoice!

News feeds everywhere exploded yesterday with the news that October 31 - Halloween - will bring to the world a new story from the Harry Potter world.

Surely, we all remember Dolores Umbridge, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, High Inquisitor of Hogwarts, and, albeit briefly, Hogwarts Headmistress.

J.K. Rowling has announced that she has written a 1,700 word backstory detailing the life of one of the most hated characters of the series.

It will be available exclusively on Pottermore, where it was said "Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious Potter characters, she is the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent, physical scar on Harry."

After missing their cat for two months, the mother of this sweet family found Maddy walking around a local gas station.

Tough Police Officer Has A Big Heart

Pittsburgh police officer Jack Mook has been getting a lot of attention this past month. Not for making an arrest or stopping a bad guy - but by being the ultimate good guy.

Officer Mook volunteers at a local boxing gym, where he works with many underprivileged youths. That is where he met brothers Josh, 15, and Jessee, 11. One day the boys stopped showing up at the gym and Officer Mook was so concerned that he tracked them down at their schools. He found out they were foster kids, living in terrible conditions.

What he did next will amaze you.

Pink Power!

As everyone knows, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. There are tons of different ways to contribute to the cause and help raise awareness (see the end of this post for more).

Many places are casting pink lights on their buildings and monuments in order to show their support, and I wanted to share them all with you, because I think they are simply beautiful!

For a long time I have contemplated starting a website that only featured good news stories. So many media outlets report the same things, day after day: murder, natural disasters, disease. I wanted to create a space to show that there are still good people in the world, doing good things.
